St. Paul Parishioners Made The Annual 2024 “Stuff the Truck” & First Ever Winter Coat Giveaway Event was a Huge Success!

SPC (with some help from our friends at Our Lady of Ransom and St. Juliana) collected a whopping 800 winter coats and over 700 hats, gloves, and scarves from this year’s “Stuff the Truck” event! The incredible generosity of our parishioners continues to reflect an attitude of gratitude for God’s gifts to us.

With the recent closure of Catholic Charities in Des Plaines, SPC lost its long-time partner that handled distributing the “Stuff the Truck” donations. In response, SPC’s Social Service Ministry organized a team of 164 volunteers, secured distribution space at Elk Grove Township’s Meeting Hall, and tackled the task of directly distributing all of the winter outerwear to those in need. So many families were helped, and Elk Grove Township has already asked to partner with SPC again next year for this great event!

Thank you so much to all of the donors, student volunteers, Maine South’s football team, and adult volunteers who jumped in and worked so hard to ensure the project’s success! Special thanks to T.H. Ryan Cartage Company that has been donating the truck and driver for the coat drive for over 40 years! Thanks also to our generous friends at Our Lady of Ransom and St. Juliana as well as to our new friends at Elk Grove Township. Together we will keep our less fortunate neighbors warm this winter!
