Many of you have asked over the past several months how Mother of Mercy Parish in Mobile, Alabama, is doing. Last year, they were our Lenten Almsgiving project, and thanks to your extraordinary generosity, we raised a record amount of support—funds that have made a significant impact on the parish.
As a reminder, Mother of Mercy serves a community made up of six very poor, predominantly African American parishes, along with one Native American parish. After prayerful consideration, we have decided to designate Mother of Mercy Parish as our regular Sharing Parish. For many years, our Sharing Parish was St. Benedict the African in Chicago; however, we have found that the needs are even greater in Alabama and that our connection there has become more personal.
In fact, Fr. Victor Ingalls, pastor of Mother of Mercy, visited us in early February to share updates on the progress made possible through your continued support.
Beginning in February 2026, our Sharing Parish will officially transition from St. Benedict the African in Chicago to Our Mother of Mercy in Mobile, Alabama. Those who receive monthly giving envelopes will find the new Sharing Parish envelope included in their February packets. You may also make donations through our online portal: https://www.givecentral.org/customizable-online-giving/133/event/3711. All Sharing Parish donations received from February 1 onward will be directed to Our Mother of Mercy Parish.
Thank you for your continued generosity and for your commitment to serving those most in need.
