Praying with Scripture

Praying with Scripture (Lectio Divina)

The Praying with Scripture group meets weekly to read, meditate and reflect upon passages of the Sacred Scriptures using a prayer form called Lectio Divina ("Holy/Divine Reading") which has been practiced within the Church for 1800 years!

Lectio Divina is an ancient spiritual practice that was prayed by many great saints such as Augustine, Benedict and Teresa of Avila. It is still being practiced today all over the world and it is recommended by Pope Benedict XVI.

This prayer method taps into the "spiritual sense" of the Scripture. The purpose is to see how the scripture is addressed to you, as an individual, at this moment of your life: "How is God touching my life today through the Word?" This enables the Bible to become a means of closer union with God.

Praying with Scripture meets weekly at 7:30pm in the Kinane Center. All are welcome! No preparation or experience is needed.
