Getting Married at St. Paul of the Cross Catholic Church in Park Ridge
Who can book a wedding?
Before booking a place for a reception, the date should be reserved in the church calendar.
Registered parishioners can book a wedding date by calling the rectory. A registered parishioner is someone who has signed up as a parishioner and has been in the parish at least six months prior to arranging a wedding. He/she receives monthly envelopes and uses them, and attends Mass here regularly.
If you have moved away from the parish, but parents still live here, or if you once attended St. Paul of the Cross School or went to our catechesis program, or if your parents were married here and you wish to be married here, too, we will try to accommodate those requests. We do ask that if you live out-of-state you have at least nine months for preparation before your wedding.
We do however try to accommodate non-parishioners whenever possible if you live in the area. What we usually do not permit are folks who have attended weddings here, like the way our church feels or looks, or are looking for a long aisle for their wedding. In other words, we do not have weddings for someone who is just "shopping around."
Traditionally, brides are married in their home parish. There should be some relationship between the bride or groom, or the couple, and the parish where they will be married.
We hope this helps clarify who can book a wedding here at St. Paul of the Cross, before you call to do so.
If your wedding is booked here and you have a family priest or friend who would like to officiate at your wedding, they are welcome to do so. Usually that priest or deacon does the paperwork required. It must be completed, and in our office, one month prior to the wedding. If we are to do the paperwork, you must let us know so an appointment with a priest can be made.
Following the booking of a wedding date, you will receive a letter of confirmation and some information you will need to know for planning your wedding here at St. Paul of the Cross.
May God bless you during this time of preparation. This union you will enter into is most sacred and most serious. Established by God, it will bind you together for life in a relationship so close and so intimate that it will profoundly affect your entire future. Our prayer and hope is that you will remember the centrality of the Sacrament even as you make preparations for your wedding day.
