Sharing Parish Program

Every parish has been assigned a sister parish by the Archdiocese of Chicago. Since the inception of this ministry, over 45 years ago, our sister parish has been St. Benedict the African East, located at 340 W. 66th St., Chicago, IL 60621. 773-873-4464. Besides our monthly monetary support to St. Ben's, and our annual clothing drive, which benefits their holiday bazaar, we have enjoyed pulpit exchanges and attended each other's Masses. Our Contemporary Ensamble Group has sung with their Gospel choir at both places. There have been women's prayer groups, a gardening project and fashion shows and luncheons. We have also done some school to school letterwriting.

Even though this program started originally to help some of the poorer parishes stay afloat, it has become crystal clear that we have much to gain in relationship as we learn about each other and spend time together. If you would like to know more or have any ideas for sharing, please call or e-mail Adrienne Timm.

St. Paul of the Cross Mission Statement: As children of God, living in a Catholic community of faith, we are united by the Gospel message of Jesus Christ. Aware that all we have is gift and grace from our Heavenly Father, we strive to give of our time, talent and treasure to build His kingdom on earth. We live this mission, challenged by the Word, nurtured by the Sacraments, and enlivened by the Spirit, to serve our brothers and sisters in peace, justice and dignity. All are welcome on this journey.
